4.6 Data Analysis
Data analysis was an ongoing and iterative process in the current study, in tandem with data collection.Based on the theoretical and explanatory framework of disciplinary identities construction in Chapter 3, this section displays an overview of the analytical procedures:1) analyse the public documents pertinent to the interpretation of the situated cultures in both the context of institution and community of discipline, 2) analyse the semi-structured interviews and private documents, with the purpose of examining the individual affiliative experience of participation in groups and the subsequent sense of belonging, and 3) analyse SFL lexicogrammatical and semantic performance and negotiation of disciplinary identities in classroom discourse.
