1.3 Two Stages of Export出口的两个步骤
Figure 1-3 Two Stages of Export
The above basic process can be classified roughly into two stages:order-taking and order-processing(see Figure 1-3).Order-taking involves a lot of strenuous work aiming at developing the market to generate trade leads and sign the contract.Order-processing,involves fulfilling the order in accordance with the contract and trade practices.Order-taking and order-processing,therefore,make up the main body of your routines.Obviously, taking an order hinges more on your marketing skills, capability and experience, while processing an order,on the other hand,is more of a routine job which requires patience and meticulousness.
These are merely principles. In practice, however, you don’t need to shoulder all the responsibilities listed above, particularly those involved in order-processing.For example, you can authorize the freight forwarder or a customs broker to clear customs and delegate your accountant to report the foreign exchange revenue and file for tax refund. If your company is not exporting in its own name, but commissioning a trading company as your agency, all the work after contracting and manufacturing is left with the trading company.Once you ship the goods and the trading company receives the payment,it pays you in RMB.Exporting through a trading company, therefore,is no different from a domestic transaction. It is to be noted, however, many procedures now can be completed on the Internet, such as on China E-port.
