7.1.3.3 Transfer a bill of lading转让提单
A straight B/L requires that the shipment be made to the named consignee in the consignee box.This type of B/L cannot be transferred.A bearer or holder B/L can be transferred to anyone merely by delivering to the person or company.A “to-order”B/L can be transferred to a named or any person or company by endorsement—making notations at the back of the B/L about how to transfer it.Generally,there are three types of endorsement representing three ways of transferring the B/L:
♦Restrictive endorsement:The endorser can transfer the B/L to a named endorsee who cannot further transfer the B/L.
♦Order endorsement:The endorser can transfer the B/L to a named endorsee who can further transfer the B/L.
♦Blank endorsement:The endorser can transfer the B/L to anyone who can further transfer it by delivering it to anyone else.
