Nowadays, Halloween has lost much of its religious significance.It has become a time for having fun, gifting candy,dressing up in costumes, and scaring people.No matter what your age, the last night of October is always one to look forward to celebrating.

Whether or not you participate in the Halloween festivities in your neighborhood,you will see the decorations all around.People put up pictures of all kinds of scary,spooky and ghastly images on their doors and shop windows.Pumpkins can be found everywhere and various carved pumpkin lanterns are hung from the entrances of shops and homes across America.
On Halloween, children dress up in costumes and go to their neighbors’ homes saying “trick-or-treat” when people answer the door.Generally, people open their doors only if they have treats, such as small candy bars and the like, to give to the children.
One of the most enjoyable parts of the modern Halloween celebration is the carving of the pumpkins purchased from stores into lanterns.The carved pumpkin lantern, called jack-o’-lantern, becomes one of the symbols of Halloween.So it’s not surprising to find pumpkin carving competitions in some communities to discover the best and most creative ideas.
Other Halloween activities include attending costume parties, ghost tours,bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, doing pranks, telling scary stories,and watching horror movies.Halloween today is a day that children look forward to each year for fun and fear all over America.
