淡灰海蛇Hydrophis ornatus

形态特征：头较大，躯体不特别长而较侧扁，尾侧扁。鼻孔背位，有瓣膜，无鼻间鳞。体全长1000mm左右。头背橄榄黄色，体尾背面橄榄褐色或蓝灰色，具30～60个黑色宽横斑，腹面米黄色。上唇鳞7枚，呈2-2-3式，下唇鳞11枚，颔片2对。体鳞六角形，颈部一周体鳞32～43枚，躯体最粗部一周39～59枚，腹鳞231～340枚，尾下鳞36～49对。
生活习性：生活于海水中，以鳗类为食，卵胎生。
地理分布：国内见于山东、广东、广西、香港、台湾、海南沿海及附近海域；国外分布于从波斯湾经印度半岛沿海到澳大利亚北部沿海。
环渤海地区分布：仅见于山东沿海（青岛）。
生存现状：近危（NT）。

Description Adults up to 1,000mm TL, head is relatively bigger; body size is not very long but flat; tail is flat.Nostrils on the back, with valve but no scales; head dorsum is olive yellowish; body and tail dorsum is olive brownish or blue greyish; 30-60 black wide bands,ventral is light yellowish.7 supralabials are arranged in 2-2-3 rows; 11 infralabials; 2 pairs of jaw pieces.Body scales are in hexagon shape, 32-43 scales; 39-59 scales on the widest part of the body; 231-340 ventral scales; subcaudals 36-49 pairs.
Behaviour Hydrophis ornatus live in the sea and feed on sea eel.This species is ovoviviparous.
Distribution Known in the coasts of Shandong, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hongkong, Taiwan and Hainan in China.They are found in the sea from the Persian Gulf through India Peninsula to the north of Australia at abroad.Distribution around Bohai Sea: only in the coasts of Shandong province (Qingdao).
