Fire Protection
9.0.1 The fire hazard categories and fire resistance ratings of the buildings and structures of a hydropower station shall be sorted according to the provisions in Code of Design on Building Fire Protection and Prevention（GB 50016）and Design Code for Fire Protection of Water Resources and Hydropower Projects（SDJ 278）.
9.0.2 The fire-truck way in the plant shall not be less than 4.0m in width，and should be shared with the in-plant traffic access.At the dead-end of the fire-truck way，a turnaround shall be designed.
9.0.3 The maximum allowable area of fire protection zonings in a hydropower station shall be determined according to the fire hazard categories and fire resistance ratings.
9.0.4 The number of powerhouse safety emergency exits shall not be less than two.If the building area of each floor of the auxiliary rooms is less than 800m2，and the staffs in one shift are not more than 15 people，one exit is adequate.For the generator floor and the floors under it，the distance from the farthest indoor spot to the nearest emergency exit shall not exceed 60m.
9.0.5 For oil-immersed main transformers with unit oil capacity larger than 1000kg and other oil-filled equipment，a 100% oil storage pit or a 20% oil storage pit together with a public oil storage pond shall be installed.
9.0.6 Power cables and control cables shall be laid in separate layers，and the cable layers shall be separated by diaphragms with fire resistance limit of no less than 0.5h.
9.0.7 Plugging and separating measures shall be taken for cable tunnels and channels.
9.0.8 For the hydraulic turbine-generator unit with unit capacity of no less than 12.5MVA and the indoor oil-immersed main transformers with single capacity of no less than 12.5MVA，an automatic fire extinguishing system，such as water spray shall be set up.(https://www.daowen.com)
9.0.9 The powerhouse shall be equipped with smoke extraction facilities that are to be combined with the in-plant ventilation system.
9.0.10 Natural water source，specific fire protection water ponds or fire protection pumps may be used as the water supply sources for in-plant fire protection；and the water supply for fire protection may be incorporated with the domestic and production water supply system.The quality，pressure and volume of supplied water shall meet the requirements for fire protection purposes.
9.0.11 Powerhouse，auxiliary rooms and oil accumulator room shall be equipped with fire hydrants.For GradeⅠorⅡfire resistance-rated buildings with a fire-resistive category ofⅣandⅤ，where there is little combustible material and architectural volume is less than 3000m3，neither indoor nor outdoor fire water supply is required.
9.0.12 The power supply for fire protection equipment shall be of GradeⅡload and an independent power supply circuit shall be used.
9.0.13 Emergency lighting and evacuation signs shall be installed in the main evacuation passages of powerhouse，staircase，exits and fire protection pump room，etc.
9.0.14 Fire protection equipment shall be provided in the central control room.If water is supplied by fire protection pump，an actuating apparatus should be equipped in the hydrant box for the fire protection pump.
9.0.15 Automatic fire alarming device should be set up in the hydropower station.
9.0.16 Hydropower stations shall be equipped with fire protection apparatus，such as extinguishers，in accordance with the prevailing national standard of Code for Design of Extinguisher Distribution in Buildings，GB 50140.
