Ⅰ.Overview of Ethnic Minorities in Yunnan
Yunnan is the province with the largest number of ethnic minorities in China.Besides the Han nationality, there are 25 ethnic minorities with a population of more than 6,000.Among them,15 ethnic minorities are unique in China, with a population accounting for more than 80% of the total population in China.Yunnan, where a snowy plateau coexists with tropical rain forest,where high mountainscoexist withdeep valleys and wide dams and vast lakes criss-cross, gathers more than half of the animal and plant species in the country and witnesses the history of the survival and development of 26 minorities.This land covered by lateritic soil is proudly and persistently blooming with colorful flowers of national culture.The unique 15 minorities in Yunnan have laid an unquestionable foundation for establishing the status as the“Kingdom of National Culture.”They have also formed a characteristic and diverse national culture in Yunnan.Main representative minorities include Bulang, De’ang, Yi, Bai, Hani, Dai, Jinuo, Wa, Lisu, Naxi, Jingpo, Hui, etc.
