Basically，the dredged sediment was treated via two main ways，dumping untreated soil and resource utilization，including pumped onto reclamation area or re-create as some kind construction material and so on.
Before 2003，the dredged sediment was mostly dumped outside the channel.On the same time，sediment discharge decreases significantly in recent years because of upstream dams，water and soil conservation.Coastal beach（tidal flat）development slows down and even is eroded，and this is an apparent contradiction with increasing land demand of Shanghai.
Dredged sediment stabilization is a crucial step for resource utilization of sediment.So，the solidification of dredged soil was the best way to treat the dredged soil，so reclamation engineering is the best choice for using the soils.
Around the deep-water channel，a few reclamation projects were planned and conducted，Hengsha reclamation engineering，Changxing reclamation engineering and PVG pavement＃5 reclamation engineering.
For Yangtze Estuary deep-water channel，cumulative dredged sediment was about 860 million m3 to 2015，including：

1 580 million m3 soils were shipped outside the channel；
2 300 million m3 soils were pumped onto the Hengsha beach，and，
