Resource Utilization of Dredged Sediment and lts lnfluence to the Environment of Yangtze Estuary

[Abstract]Disposal of dredged sediment is a critical problem for navigation channels,especially for large-scale channel like Deepwater Channel of Yangtze Estuary.In this paper,a resource utilization of dredged sediment in Yangtze Estuary was introduced.For the past ten years,a part of dredged sediment was pumped onto the beach as important filling materials for Hengsha Reclamation projects.Also,because it's difficult to pump the soil from the vessel directly,some storage pools and pumping stations were set,the dredger shipped the sediment and dumped into the submerged storage pool,and then the soil was pumped onto land.During this procedure,lots of sediments diffused or take away by runoff and tidal current.In order to estimate the suspended sediment concentration around the storage pool,a Shallow Water Equation Model(SWEM3D)was introduced and also used to stimulate the sediment diffusion and transportation process during the ebb tide and spring tide.
