4.3.4　Verbs

Verbs are supposed to be overused in Chinese than in English，for there are too many inflections of verbs in English，like tense，aspect and person，but there is none in Chinese.More hits of verbs are expected to be found in TETT as translation is influenced by the original language more or less.However，TETT represents characteristics far from expectation.Verbs are less used in TETT.

（1）Toronto Music Garden provides a great venue for intimate concerts and a lovely place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the waterfront.（OETT）(https://www.daowen.com)

（2）Huangshan must be one of the best ways of enjoyment and relaxation.（TETT）

Relax and enjoy used in OETT is rather vivid and dynamic.The phrase makes potential visitors feel they are there on the scene.Although enjoyment and relaxation in TETT can express the same meaning，it is less vocative.The landscape seems to be silent and stay far from potential visitors.

The overuse of verbs in OETT stems from the particular vocative purpose，which is well reflected in style.The verbs in OETT make the texts conform to the characteristics of promotional texts：dynamic，energetic，and vocative.
