◎Dingzhou Examination Hall
Dingzhou Examination Hall is the best-preserved imperial examination venue of the Qing Dynasty.It was built by Wang Danian,governor of the province,in 1738.In 1834,Wang Zhonghuai,governor of the province,asked the people to donate for the expansion and reconstruction of the hall.Therefore,a large-scale examination hall came into being.Later on,it has been renovated and preserved till now.In 2001,it was listed as a key cultural relic under national protection.
The examination hall is square in plan,covering an area of 2.21 hectares,including a structural area of 1,547 square meters.The main building is composed of examination rooms and the Kuixing Pavilion.Dingzhou Examination Hall has a majestic bearing,which not only embodying the architectural features of the Qing Dynasty,but also having the flexibility of the local architecture.It is a physical material for studying the local architectural art and the imperial examination system of the Qing Dynasty.
