◎Cishan Culture

It is an archaeological center of Neolithic Age in China named after the Cishan site in Wu'an and a typical representative of the primitive farming culture characterized by millet farming and settled life in China, showing the struggle of human beings to harness and to live in harmony with nature. According to scientific data,Cishan Culture has a history of more than 8,000 years. Its archaeological excavations began in 1976,unearthing more than 5,000 pieces of pottery and artifacts made of stone, bone and mussel,a large number of specimens of plants and animals like poultry, livestock and walnuts,as well as about 50,000 kilograms of carbonized millet. Cishan has been regarded as the earliest birthplace of millet. It is also the place where the earliest discovery of domestic chicken and walnuts were made in China, which not only reflects the tremendous contribution of the ancestors of Cishan to human survival and development in the process of understanding, harnessing and transforming nature, but also rewrites the history of grain farming, chicken domesticating and walnut production in China and even the world. Its unique connotations are demonstrated in the utensils characterized by the flat-bottomed pottery jars with bird's head-shaped legs, the farming and threshing tools such as stone axes, shovels, millstones and grinding sticks, the rectangular grain cellars and the ritual relics containing pottery and stone tools. Known as Chinese treasure,Cishan Culture is a major archaeological breakthrough in China's Neolithic Age.(https://www.daowen.com)
