A series of investigations have been conducted on the fat metabolism and its regulation in plants.Special attention was paid to fat synthesis in relation to carbohydrate breakdown. In this paper, the enzyme systems of glucose degradation in the pods of rape during its development are described.(https://www.daowen.com)
Evidences were presented showing that the acetone powder preparations of pods,30th day after flowering, prossessed all the enzymes of EMP pathway;i.e.,hexokinase,phosphohexoisomerase,phosphohexokinase,aldolase,phosphoglyceraldehyde dehydrogenase,Phosphoglycerokinase, phosphoglyceric mutase, enolase and pyruvic kinase. At the same time, the enzymes of the HMP pathway were also detected,to wit:glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase,6-phosphogluconic dehydrogenase, phosphoriboisomerase, phosphoriboepimerase, transketolase and transaldolase. It was inferred that both catabolic pathways,EMP and HMP,were operative in the pods of rape.
