不至于如此糟糕吧

过去两个月以来，我花费了极大的耐心修改两篇由硕士研究生撰写的论文，感觉颈椎增生的痛苦程度也不过如此。这是我平生首次修改研究生的论文，在此之前我从未干过这种事。修改好的一篇已经投往J Infect Dis，还有一篇可能还要补充做些试验，如果不补恐怕只能发在一些名声不太好的期刊。

除此之外，我自己也没有闲着，利用下班时间撰写完成了一篇题为“Subpopulations of Helper CD4+T cells in Tuberculous Pleurisy”的专题综述。因为国内外的研究资料不多，基本上都是一些相对比较简单的研究，没有太多的亮点，再说结核性胸膜炎的重要性也不大，所以不敢往太厉害的期刊投稿。一个多月前投稿的一本名为Tuberculosis的期刊，日前收到回修通知。

几乎每一篇论文的退修意见都会附加一句“文中有诸多语法句法错误”，建议请一位母语为英语的人士审阅之后再投稿。没想到的是，该期刊的编审意见的第一条就是：One major issue is the English.Comprehension of the complex ideas within the review is unfortunately compromised by the standard of The paper is written in rather poor English.which，at times，makes it hard to follow the author's ideas.This reviewer would recommend that a native English speaker edit the document with the guidance of the authors.A key example of confusion is on page 10 26-34.This is one long sentence which I cannot interpret.(https://www.daowen.com)

我知道我的英语不太好，但也不至于糟糕到这个分上不是？一般老说，文中有少许用法不很正宗，那是不可能完全避免的，但居然说成“不知所云”显然别有用心。

果不其然，编辑在信中不忘来一句：“If you cannot find someone suitable then the journal may be able to help you with a professional servicejust let me know.”原来，这些家伙先夸大我的英语失误，然后再诱导我入局，妄图赚取“修改费”，我是第一次碰到这种荒唐事。

我决定不上他的当，自己再仔细修改一番，然后打回去，不要拉倒。Tuberculosis对我们而言属于可有可无的期刊，不发表也罢。（2012年12月18日）
