Wang Huaiqi
Mr.Yu Jincai should be seventy-one years old when Wu Zi year is coming.
During more than half-century art career，he has experienced strict and well-trained special training in academy of fine arts，went through adversity of each period for seeking the art spirit of nature assiduously.He has created uncounted exquisite landscape painting work，passionate calligraphy work and the theory concerning the development of arts over the past several tens years.Looking back over the years，essence of the art achievements has made him the famous Chinese landscape painter，calligrapher and art critic.
I have made the acquaintance with Jincai for over forty years including eight-year teaching career，5-year Tibet fresco copy，many times exhibition and perennial art creation.I have witnessed his eager to knowledge，realized his over-absorption in art，and understood the simple and innocent human quality showed by his works.As his arts reach the summit，he has made his own exclusive artistic style.
After seeing the art exhibition each time，he would bring back many records or considerations.After sketching outdoors each time，he would bring back large amount of literary sketches，records of local customs，humanity history and the poetic prose.These valuable records made his works full of spirit.This has become his habit，the habit of years.
The early seventies in last century，Jincai and me were jointly temporarily transferred to take part in the fresco copy work of relics excavation，totally for five years.From ancient city Handan to Zhangjiakou north of the Great Wall，we copied the grave fresco from the Han，Song Dynasty to Liao and Jin Dynasties.Facing the wall，touching the grave without distance，we can understand and know the development and changes of fresco of different periods，and structures，layout，color，drawing procedure and production by copying.With skeleton and fresco under the ground in the ancient tomb，we spent five lonely years altogether.We are often recalling this life and feeling that the fresco copy for 5 years is the rare chance for learning，knowing and understanding the tradition.It is also a vigorous provision of traditional spirit which is chewed，digested and absorbed during the endless time.Since the 70's in the last century，he concentrated on landscape painting and studied landscape painter over past dynasties from painting reason，painting theory to work，exploring oriental qualities and spirit essence of Chinese art for practicing extension and development.
To him，drawing the knowledge has become the demand.The rich accumulation has established the solid foundation for his development.
Jincai's work all come from life，come from vivid feel of landscapes.He walks far，walks through Taihang Mountains area.He is excited about the wind and rain of“Cangyan Mountains”，small hydro-electric power plant construction in mountain area，Yan Shan canyon reservoir and changes of remote mountains.“Creation requires soul shock and harmonic resonance.”he said.Naturally，hiswork regarding Taihang is also full of deep spirits.About the nineties of the last century.he went to sketch in the area of southern Yangtze river？Many times，and then went from.the mountains into dwellings.He often talked about nature and people，meeting of nature and soul，spirit reflection of independent art.Entrusted with spirituality of art by nature，he realized the true meaning of art，strode over nature，underlined the tension and rhyme of pen and ink，created the new context and opened up a new realm of the aesthetic landscape.
As the time extend，his art will sublimate ceaseless.It will form the unique talent of“Jincai Ink”.
This is a necessity，but also a heaven-made match.
This album of paintings records a segment of history，a process，a true state of selfs mind and an achievement.
I am expecting more and more work of Jincai come out from time to time.
