Preface

Our generation's outlook on life and values forged by history is individual should subordinate to the country.In the era of revolution，I had been the editor，writer，farmer，teacher and engaged in cultural relics and so on.In a breathing，I am 40 years gone.In 1980s，I was transferred to Hebei Painting Academy for specializing in painting.

Since the early 20th century，when Duchamp's urinal entered into the art hall，the“traditional”has become the“rival”against by the new one.Since then，the art of“epistemology”had become unpredictable.I think when the creation is confined by art form，it will burst back towards its own，and this is the social revolution of art.Once the burst proliferated unbounded，artistic rules of culture would begin to reincarnate.Principal source is the foundation of artistic revolution.The spread and interaction of culture is the definite one of the development of art.When the plastic arts entered into the modern cultural circles，there is no noble and elegant human taste of classicalism but witty and free cultural ideas.No doubt this course highlights the affirmation and publicity of individual character，but it also becomes devoid of the profound cultural content.Once the arts alienates with culture，it becomes the rule of packaging skill.It becomes the paradox with improvement of modem civilization.

For the modern ideas of anti-traditionalism.I insist on the respect for the tradition，the law and China's position for cultural heritage of five thousand years；at the same time，Ialso oppose to parroting of slavery moral and firmly believe the truth of expanding new frontier，eternal position of eminence and harmony in the artistic composition.I believe that tradition is the genes of human life and cultural foundation of national survival and development.Tradition is mobile，flexible and evolutionary.The innovation of art is self-development and remolding but not to follow others'steps.Tradition and innovation are contradictory unity.

I think in the forest of world art，unique advantages of Chinese ink painting are the pride of our national culture.The spirit，inclusion，readability and cultural quality of ink determine its unlimited development space while western culture is the reference or catalyst which we could not give up.When the art developed into the post-modern，it has no way to go but back to tradition and nature which has become a trend.Some far-sighted western scholars also pointed out that for the development of contemporary art，it is necessary to look for intelligence from Confucius who lived more than 2000 years ago.In this era of noisy，synaeresis and noise are both loud.I think，as long as we establish the right cultural coordinates，we should keep going without hesitation.“Extinction theory of art”made by Hegel is only theoretical mysteries which needless to care about.Only practice is important.I firmly believe that pursuit and expression of the true，the good and the beautiful are the eternal.

From the perspective of art history，the development of human art is a cultural history with constant inherit，explore and creation.In this sense，art is the era landmark of civilization process of human society.

In the context of contemporary culture，we have to guard against post-modernist art which is deconstructing traditional culture and value judgment of art nature.

I firmly believe that Chinese culture of“harmony between man and nature”is bound to expand with a higher level.
