1.2 Research questions and significance
Within the research frame of descriptive translation studies,the book conducts a theoretical study on translators'cognitive processing and mechanism of image-G actualization in literary translation.The research questions to be addressed in the current study are as follows:
(1)How do translators construe image-G in source text in the process of image-G actualization?
(2)How do translators construct image-G in target text based on the construal of that in source text in the process of image-G actualization?
(3)What cognitive translation strategies are adopted by translators in the process of construing image-G in source text and constructing of that in target text?And how are they motivated?(https://www.daowen.com)
By seeking answers to these questions above,the secondary purpose of the present study is to establish modeling process and mechanisms for translators'cognitive operation and cognitive means of image-G actualization in literary translation.Several types of cognitive translation strategies are expected to be proposed,which makes a theoretical explanation about cognitive motivations of translators'construal of image-G in source text and construction of image-G in target text.
The present study has a considerable significance as following:
(1)At theoretical level,the establishment of a theoretical mode of translators'cognitive psychological processing on image-G actualization in literary translation can expand and deepen the relevant theoretical research perspectives.It makes headway in research field and paradigm with its cognitive orientation,providing comparisons and references on the cognitive research orientation of linguistic form and the cognitive function of translated texts.It inquires into the internal cognitive mechanism and system of translators'intellectual activities in image-G actualization.In addition,proceeding from the conceptual level of knowledge representation,it also sets up several cognitive translation strategies,which can be adopted by translators to realize image-G actualization in literary translation.In addition,it overcomes the restrictions and limitations on the previous translation cognitive process model which was studied from the perspectives of information decoding and recoding.
(2)At practical level,the present study has proposed several types of cognitive translation strategies that will lay out the main manipulated frame for translation practice of image-G actualization in translators'internal cognitive mechanism and cognitive delineations.These cognitive translation strategies can be adopted by translators in accordance with specific skopos and commission to realize the expected function of image-G actualization in literary translation.Besides,it could be linked up with translators'endeavors in other fields in cognitive analysis of image-G actualization which contributes to the comprehensive understanding of conceptual structure of image-G actualization in cognitive translation strategies.The present research is not only a close exploration of image-G actualization in literary translation from the perspective of cognitive interdisciplinary,but also a verifier for the application effects of cognitive theories on the study of image-G actualization.Finally,the present research is beneficial to the fulfillment of translators'selfrealization and self-awareness of translation process,rules of translation,and regularity of translation in their translation practice of image-G actualization.
