Chapter I　Development of Pu’er Tea

[Abstract]Pu’er Tea, as a geographical indication product of Yunnan Province, has a long history of planting and processing.After the development in the Shang, Zhou, Three Kingdoms,Sui, Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasties, it became famous in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.At the beginning of the 15th century, under the influence of tea-horse trade and Zheng He’s voyage to the West, tea trade began to prosper, but it was influenced by wars and diseases in the Republican Period, Pu’er tea fell into a trough again.After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Party and the government made full use of Yunnan’s unique geographical advantages to vigorously develop tea production, so that the output and sales of Pu’er tea grew rapidly.With the arrival of the“comprehensive health”era in the 21st century, Pu’er tea has once again become the darling of the times, showing a brand-new look in front of the world.
