“The best liquor is the Yanshi liquor in the world; but the best thing to recall the nostalgic feeling is Pushan tea”.— Xu Xikong of the Qing Dynasty
They are famous couplets written by Xu Xikong, a minister in the Qing Dynasty.It is hung high in the Yunnan Guild Hall in Beijing, which is hanged in the new guild hall later.”The couplets are based on the poem.”Pushan tea mentioned here is also Pu’er tea.Tasting Pu’er tea in Beijing stimulates intense nostalgia.
“Thousands of people earn a living planting and doing business with tea, and you are the greatest following Zhuang Qiao.”— In 1940, Wang Yusong, a professor of Yunnan Provincial No.1 Middle School, wrote a couplet on the tomb of Ji Xiangting, an old tea man in Jinggu Township,Jinggu County, Pu’er tea area.
“Tribute trees are fragrant in Jingshan; local people make a living by planting and doing tea business.”— Zhang Jiliang, a nephew-in-law of Ji Xiangting and former commander of the 16th Division of the Kuomintang Central Army, inscribed an elegy for Ji Xiangting.
“一天从早到晚,不离柴米油盐酱醋茶;四季冬去春来,常伴咸淡酸涩苦辣甜。”——民国年间,普洱市镇沅县城按板井民居杨朝元家大门的对联(艾文伯撰,洪昭璞搜集)
以上是民国时期具有代表性的普洱茶楹联,传达普洱茶魅力的同时,更是借物抒情,表达出笔者各自的心境情感。
