1.Making an Appointment

A:Mr.Dong,is it possible for me to meet you at your convenience?

B:Sure,I’m free this afternoon.Let’s make it at 10 then.

A:I’d like to make an appointment with Mr.Thompson.I need to talk with him about a contract.

B:Let me see.Mr.Thompson will be in his office tomorrow morning.You can come at 9 o’clock.

A:Thanks a lot.

A:Mr.Peterson,I wonder if it would be convenient to meet you today.

B:I’m afraid I’ll be tied up at 3 o’clock this afternoon.Could you make it at 5 o’clock this afternoon?

A:Yes.That would be better.

2.Asking to Change an Appointment

A:Hello,Mr.Johnson’s office.How may I help you?

B:Hi,there.It’s Wang Ling.Can I change my appointment to Wednesday? I have an emergency.

A:Oh,I see.See you then.

A:I’d like to change the appointment with Dr.Johnson from Tuesday to Thursday.

B:I’m afraid he won’t be available on Thursday morning.

A:Hi,I need to change my appointment with Dr.Smith.

B:I see your appointment.What day would you like to switch to?

A:I would like to switch it to next Friday.

3.Asking about a Schedule

A:Excuse me,Mr.Liu.Mr.Peterson would like to know if you have the completed schedule for next week.

B:Yes,I do,Joe.Just a moment.Here it is.

A:What’s your schedule for tomorrow?

B:Tomorrow is Wednesday.I’m attending the sales meeting at 9:00 in the morning.And in the afternoon at 3:00,I’m seeing Mr.Wang,the Marketing Manager.

A:What’s your new schedule,Amy?

B:Well,I take five courses this semester.I have accounting major courses on Monday,Tuesday and Friday at 10:00 a.m.,and I have English on Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m.

4.Making an Invitation

A:Hi,Judy.Do you have any plans on Saturday night?

B:Nothing special.Why?

A:Well,I was thinking of asking you to go to a movie with me.

A:Hey,Liu Yun.Let’s go out for dinner!

B:Sure! Where shall we meet?

A:Meet me at my house tonight.

A:Hi,Amy.Do you have any plan for the coming holiday? How about going to Suzhou?

B:That’s a good idea.

5.Declining an Invitation
