Dating Culture in the U.S.
1.Asking.
While in some countries,it may be considered improper for a woman to ask a man on a date, that is not the case in the United States. It’s completely acceptable for either the man or woman to do the asking. The person who does the asking should pay for the date, unless the person asked insists on paying for herself while on the date.
2.Marriage is not (always) the ultimate goal.
American people will think through and through before they decide to get married. They will make sure that their partner is the right one worth spending their life with. Thus, people who date in America don’t all end up being married.
3.Parents’involvement is minimal.
In some countries, parents are deeply involved in their children’s relationship. They even become the matchmaker between their children and set up the marriage for them.In the U.S.,once you hit 18 and become a legal adult, you are free to make a decision on your own.Parents do not involve much in their children’s dating.
4.Your pet takes part in your relationships.
Believe it or not,a few American couples break up because they don’t like the pet that their partner has. So,make sure that your partner doesn’t only love you but your pet as well.
