·“Break a leg”的说法源于英国莎士比亚时期的舞台传统。演出成功结束后，演员接受了小费，是要弯腿行“屈膝礼”的。因此，“Break a leg”成了希望演员演出成功的形象说法。现如今这个俚语也可以指“祝你好运”。

The Four Major Traditional Chinese Festivals
Every country has its own days of celebrations.The days are associated with its culture,its history,its art and most importantly its origin.There are four major traditional festivals of Han Chinese.They are the Spring Festival,the Tomb Sweeping Festival,the Dragon Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival.Here is some information about the four major traditional festivals.
· The Spring Festival
The first day of the lunar year is a Chinese traditional festival — the Spring Festival.It is also called Chinese New Year.People all over the country come back home and get together.It’s a custom to set off fireworks to celebrate the Spring Festival.People enjoy various food which was prepared several days ago with their family on this day.Children are the people who love the Spring Festival the most because they can get pocket money from their relatives.
· The Tomb Sweeping Festival
The Tomb Sweeping Festival started from the Zhou Dynasty with a history of more than 2,600 years.It is an important occasion for people to sweep the tombs and offer sacrifices to their ancestors.Since the festival is in Spring,apart from sweeping the tombs,people also take part in a variety of outdoor activities,such as playing on a swing,flying kites,etc.
· The Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival is on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.A number of theories exist about its origins,but the best accepted one is that it’s for memorizing the famous patriotic poet Qu Yuan.On this day,people have the customs of eating zongzi (rice dumpling),racing dragon boats and drinking realgar wine,etc.
· The Mid-Autumn Festival
The 15th day of lunar August is the Mid-Autumn Festival.The moon of that day is believed to be much fuller and brighter than that in the other months.A full moon is a symbol of reunion.So the Mid-Autumn Festival is also called the“Reunion Festival”,a time for family members to get together.Eating moon cakes and enjoying the moon are common traditions on the festival.There are lots of Chinese legends about the moon.The story of Goddess Chang’e,Wu Gang and the Jade Rabbit living on the moon is still popular today.
