Memorising Telephone Numbers
Memorising telephone numbers is not only widely used in daily life, but also an important part of English listening test. So what are some tips for remembering telephone numbers in English listening? How to memorise English phone numbers effectively in the testing?The following are the relevant introduction to share with you. A telephone number is made up of the ten digits from 0 to 9, so you must be familiar with the pronunciation of the ten digits. When training to a certain extent, it is recommended to carry out self-talk training. The key step is to train your sensitivity to numbers by saying them unconsciously and memorising them as you say them. The general rule for reading telephone numbers is to read code, area code and specific number separately. For a phone in a particular area, there are only seven or eight digits. A seven-digit number is read with the first three digits together and the last four digits together, with a pause, for example 6254598 can be pronounced as “six two five, four five nine eight”. An 8-digit number that can be read as a group of four digits, for example 58642179 can be pronounced as “five eight six four, two one seven nine”.
Two or three of the same numbers can be replaced by double or triple. For instance,3347999 can be pronounced as “double three four, seven triple nine”.
