Writing a Report on a Person

A well-written report will include the milestones and the important events in a person’s life. It is important to be accurate in the stories and descriptions you share. It tends to help someone understand the history of this person. The process of writing a report on a person is as follows:

1. Research the life of the person you are writing the report on. You can research by checking biographies out at the library or conduct an online research if you are researching someone famous. Another way to research is to conduct a personal interview with the person.

2. Create a timeline of the person’s life. The timeline will help you order your report and it provides an opportunity for the truly important events to stand out, so that you can focus on them while writing.

3. Begin by sharing why you chose this person, or what the person has accomplished in this life.

4. Give background information on the important events in his life.

5. Make a summary, highlighting something you think highly of about the person.

6. Be sure to include a compelling introduction and a straightforward thesis statement that briefly states what you are going to prove about the person.

7. In order to make a vivid description on the person, you can think of quoting some of the person’s words directly.
