UNDERSTANDING RELATIONS BETWEEN PARTS OF A TEXT THROUGH LEXICAL COHESION DEVICES
Cohesion is the grammatical and lexical linking within a text or sentence that holds a text together and gives it meaning. Lexical cohesion refers to the way in which related words are chosen to link elements of a text. Lexical cohesion is divided into two kinds: reiteration and collocation. Reiteration includes four sub-classes: repetition(same word), synonymy, superordinate and general word. Collocation is the tendency of words to co-occur in a text.
