Qingdao Rail Transit Industry Demonstration Zone

Qingdao Rail Transit Industry Demonstration Zone

With a planned area of 83 square kilometers, the zone was established in 2006. It is a national new-type industrialization demonstration base, a national foreign trade transformation and upgrade base (for railway and locomotive), one of the first group of national emerging strategic industrial clusters, and one of the top 10 featured industrial clusters of Shandong. It is also the only industrial concentration zone in China that integrates high-speed rail and subway car production, rail transit key and core system R&D and manufacturing, and national basic application technology collaborative innovation platform. It is home to National Innovation Center for High-speed Trains, China's first national technology innovation center. In March 2021, the zone was selected as a national advanced manufacturing cluster. In July 2021, the world's first high-speed maglev transit system running at 600 kilometers per hour rolled off the production line here. In December 2021, the zone was rated a national green industrial park, the first one in Qingdao to win that distinction. In the park, there are leading companies like CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., Qingdao CRRC Sifang Rolling Stock Co., Ltd, Alstom Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation and over 200 key upstream and downstream businesses. More than half of the EMUs and nearly one fourth of the subway and urban rail cars in China are made here.
