1.3 Pronunciation

Many medical terms are pronounced as they are spelt,but there are exceptions.For example:

Ch is sometimes pronounced as k:chronic

Ps is pronounced as s:psychologist

Pn is pronounced as n:pneumonia

Ph is pronounced as f:phobia

Rh is pronounced as r:rheumatism(https://www.daowen.com)

Pt is pronounced as t:ptosis

A silent letter or unusual pronunciation can be a problem,especially if it appears at the start of a word that you are trying to look up in the dictionary.See Table 1-1 for some examples.
