1.3　Pronunciation

Many medical terms are pronounced as they are spelt，but there are exceptions.For example：

Ch is sometimes pronounced as k：chronic

Ps is pronounced as s：psychologist

Pn is pronounced as n：pneumonia

Ph is pronounced as f：phobia

Rh is pronounced as r：rheumatism(https://www.daowen.com)

Pt is pronounced as t：ptosis

A silent letter or unusual pronunciation can be a problem，especially if it appears at the start of a word that you are trying to look up in the dictionary.See Table 1-1 for some examples.
