Figurative Language in Story Writing
Figurative language helps to create scenes and sensations.A writer shows and tells the story with a diversity of rhetorical devices as follows:
●Metaphor：Making an implicit,implied,or hidden comparison between two different things unrelated,but sharing some common characteristics.(Example:All the world is a stage,and all the men and women merely players;they have their exits and their entrances.)
●Simile：Comparing two unlike things,often introduced by like or as.(Example:The borders in Israel shift almost as often as the sands in the Judean Hills.）
●Personification：Giving human characteristics to an abstract quality,animal,or something lifeless.(Example:The wind whistled through the trees.)
●Hyperbole：Using exaggeration for emphasis or effect,as an overstatement.(Example:The lake was so still and clear that you could see through it down to the center of the Earth.)
