托马斯·米高教授,现任新西兰奥克兰理工大学设计学院院长,美国佐治亚理工学院建筑理论博士,哈佛大学建筑学硕士毕业,专注于设计理论和设计方法论研究。2018年米高教授正式加盟我校,成为我校海外特聘教授。校内辅导教师为设计学院王红江副教授。
ABOUT SUPERVISORS
Thomas Mical, current dean of School of Art & Design at Auckland University of Technology, Ph.D.in architecture theory at Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, and master in architecture at Harvard University.His special field of research is theory of design methodology.In 2018, Dr.Thomas Mical joined Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts as international professor.Tutor: Mr.Wang Hongjiang , associate professor of School of Design at SIVA
课程介绍
本课程为双语项目制课程,以松江区中心医院儿科环境改造提升为研究课题。27位学生按住院病房、候诊区、输液区分为3个大组,每个大组由3个3人小组组成。在6周时间里,师生4次前往医院实地调研,米高教授鼓励学生们自己去发现和解决问题,为儿童医疗营造更人性化的疗愈场所。最后学生们拿出了9套精彩纷呈的方案设计,并在结课展览中全程用英语汇报。课程成果得到医院领导、校领导和米高教授的高度肯定。
本课程强调设计方法论的实践应用,通过文献研究方法、用户研究方法、空间叙事方法的学习和应用,学生们沉浸在中外融合的国际化教学场景中,全面提升了设计专业能力和全球化视野。
COURSE OUTLINE
As a bilingual program, the workshop concentrates on research of environment improvement and innovation of department of paediatrics at Songjiang District Central Hospital, Shanghai, China.27 students,divided into 3 groups (3×3 each), spent 6 weeks working on the project of improving environment for children’s medical treatment and recovery.Teachers and students visited the hospital four times as field study.Professor Thomas Mical encouraged students to rely on themselves in their endeavor to discover problems and find solutions to the problem so as to create more humane environment for medical treatment and recovery.As the result, the students submitted 9 brilliant designing proposals and presented them entirely in English in the final demonstration.The achievement was highly recognized by the authorities from the hospital and SIVA, also by Professor Thomas Mical.
This course emphasized the practical application of design methodology.By applying methods of literature research and user research studied, students immersed themselves in international researching and learning scenarios, thus acquiring professional skills of designing and broadening their global vision.
