—with Discussions on the Interdisciplinary Perspective of Area Health System Research
Xu Jin
Abstract: As a star in delivering universal health coverage and international health assistance, Cuba has attracted attention of public health scholars worldwide. In this article, we analyzed the achievement of Cuban healthcare system and its performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. We attempted to distill Cubas experience in health development in Cubas unique historical context. Cubas population health is comparable to that of high⁃income countries and is highly resilient. This is mainly due to a well⁃established health system, which also is led by the government, focusing on primary and preventive care, and responding to social determinants of health. We have also shown a profound connection between Cubas health system and its national history and geopolitics. In the light of the Cuban case, strengthening health system should be prioritized in Chinas effort to contribute to building a global community of health for all. while designing medical aid strategies for Chinas increasing participation in global health. As for research purpose, our work should not limit to summarizing the patterns of international health development, but also deeply understand the logic embedded in each of the systems. At the intersection of public health and area studies, advancing studies of healthcare systems in different countries contains significant academic and practical values.

Hu Peng
Abstract: The COVID⁃19 epidemic has been experiencing four peaks since the outbreak of the new crown disease in Japan in early 2020. COVID⁃19 not only caused damage to the health of the Japanese people, but also caused a major blow to the Japanese economy and society, and also directly affected the hosting of the Tokyo Olympic Games. The epidemic also exposed the long⁃standing problems of low fertility rate, employment, digital backwardness, and “isolation” and “loneliness” in Japanese society. At the same time, the rise of telecommuting and distance education has brought about changes in the way of working and living, COVID⁃19. We should pay close attention to the following topics: fewer children, digitization, gender inequality, etc., from which we can see several development trends of Japanese society in the post epidemic era.(https://www.daowen.com)

Variables and Directions of Japanese Diplomacy in the Post⁃Abe Era
Lv Yaodong
Abstract: Yoshihide Suga has replaced Shinzo Abe who had ruled Japan long as the new prime minister, as is contributed to the support of Abe and the Liberal Democratic Party Faction. Therefore, the “Suga Cabinet” is bound to be deeply influenced by Abes diplomatic philosophy. The consolidation of Japan⁃U.S. alliance relations, the construction of “quasi⁃alliances” between Japan and Australia, Japan and UK under the Indo⁃Pacific perspective, and the promotion of the “General accounts of Japans postwar diplomacy”all indicate that the Suga administration adheres to the philosophy of “strategic diplomacy” of the Abe era. Suga stressed on “building stable relations with neighboring countries”, which implies that the “negative list” of diplomatic legacy since Abes era like the Japan⁃Russia territorial issue and the “historical issue” of the Korean peninsula, still plagues the “Suga Cabinet”. Although Prime Minister Suga has stated that his China policy follows Abes established guidelines, contingencies may still emerge out of expectation. Specifically, the structural problems in Sino⁃Japanese relations, in addition to the uncertainty in Sino⁃US relations, are the litmus test for the “Suga Cabinet” on its “balanced diplomacy” with great powers.

The PhilippinesRe⁃balancing Policy between China and the United States
Gu Yanjun Liu Renxue
Abstract: After Duterte took office as the President of the Philippines in 2016, he pursued an “independent” foreign policy and carried out a balancing policy between China and the United States. The Philippinesgovernment actively develops China⁃Philippines economic and trade cooperation; on the other hand, it tightens military cooperation with the United States and maintains an appropriate distance from the United States. However, Dutertes policy on China, especially the South China Sea policy, has been faced with domestic and American pressure, forcing Duterte to dynamically adjust its balancing policy between China and the United States. At the 75th UN General Assembly in September 2020, Duterte changed his position on the South China Sea issue since he took office and stated that the Philippines would adhere to the “judgment” of the “South China Sea Arbitration”. At the same time, Dutertes attitude towards military cooperation with the United States has eased. These actions indicate that Duterte has begun to “rebalance” Sino⁃US relations. Although this adjustment is limited, it will also have a non⁃negligible impact on the settlement of the South China Sea dispute and China⁃Philippine relations.
Key Words: Duterte; Sino⁃Philippines relations; US⁃Philippines relations; balance of diplomacy; rebalance

Gong Yingyuan
Abstract: Anadolu News Agency is Turkeys oldest and largest news agency. The agency is representative of the Turkish mainstream media for its distinctive feature of “timely dissemination of government positions.” This study selects the Anadolu News Agencys reports on Syrian refugees from the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011 to December 2020 as the research object, and analyzes the Turkish mainstream public opinion field on Syrian refugees from the aspects of reporting frequency, reporting sources, and agenda setting. The attitudes and propositions of the above and the countrys image of Turkey constructed by the agency through reporting on the Syrian refugee issue. The study finds that in the past ten years, the Anadolu News Agencys reports on the Syrian refugee issue have obvious differences in size and year. 2017 and 2019 are the “big years” for reporting on Syrian refugees, and the number of reports in other years is less. In addition, reports from a single source are more common, mainly from Turkish institutions and anonymous sources. In general, the Anadolu News Agency has created a positive and humanitarian image of Turkey, and at the same time has built a group of images of other countries that are not responsible and lacking in the Syrian refugee issue.
