Chapter 5　CMs in EAPs of Various Disciplines

Chapter 4 illustrates the overall features of CMs in the new classification proposed in the dissertation.Hyland & Tse(2007)once point out that terminology varies enormously across disciplines and that even the same words have different frequencies,collocations and often different meanings in different fields.In fact,the features of CMs will be different in various disciplines.Based on this assumption,this chapter compares the distributions of the CMs in the disciplines of N,S and H,and presents a discussion about the reasons of the differences.
