Shanghai Film Park

Located in Chedun Town, Shanghai Film Park is used for both film & television sets for dramas set in 1930s “old Shanghai” as well as the tourism which it attracts. It covers 41 hectares and was opened in October 1998 to recreate the classic scenes and architecture of old Shanghai.

The park copies recognizable buildings such as Waibaidu Bridge, Xujiahui Catholic Church, Moller Villa, and City God Temple of Shanghai in a ratio of 1:1 as well as the sceneries of Nanjing Road, Central Xizang Road and Central Zhejiang Road, to provide full-scale scenery for many dramas and films, and a resort for visitors to experience life in the city's distant past.

Film elements can be seen everywhere, such as the wax figures of movie stars including Zhou Xuan, Ruan Lingyu, Shangguan Yunzhu and Gong Li. Costume exhibitions, as well as the classic scenes of films like Sunrise and The Extraordinary President underscore Shanghai as the cradle of China's film industry.

In the park, you can travel along “Nanjing Road” and “Xizang Road” on trams or rickshaws, wander in the intricate lanes and alleys, the Suzhou Creek Reef and Church Square, and participate in various entertainment activities such as Cheongsam Festival. It is entirely possible to meet stars here. With the ringing bells of the tram, visitors can go through the time tunnel to old Shanghai in the 1930s, have a look at the three old department of Sincere, Wing On, and Sun-sun in the early twentieth century and find stores such as Shendacheng Dim Sum, Wangxingji Fan, Hengdeli Watch, and Zhang Xiaoquan Scissors.
