ATO
Automatic Train Operation(ATO)is an operational safety device used to enhance automatic operations of trains.It was designed and programmed to achieve partial or complete automatic train piloting and driverless function,which is easier to ensure safety of human on urban rail transit.
Many modern systems are linked with Automatic Train Operation where normal signaler operations such as route setting and train regulation are carried out by the system.ATO,ATS and ATP systems work together to make sure train operation within a series of defined parameters.According to a train timetable,all three systems can correspondingly cooperate to make adjustment on acceleration,speed,braking and dwell within specified margins.
The basic requirement of ATO is to tell train approaching a station where to stop so that the complete train is in the platform.This is assuming that the ATP has confirmed that line is clear.Furthermore,because of the dynamic and accurate on-board braking curve calculation,ATO can achieve±0.15 meters stop accuracy.
