6.4 PRESENTATION OF ITINERARIES
In presenting the contents of an itinerary, the drafter should adhere to the following principles.
(1)Consistent in Format
An itinerary should be presented in the same style throughout.A mixture of different forms may lead to confusion on the part of the reader. It is especially true of the body part of an itinerary. The format of texts shall not be used together with the format of tables.
(2)Sparing No Information
In writing an itinerary, the drafter should leave out no relevant information. The incompleteness in information will also lead a sense of confusion on the part of the reader.(https://www.daowen.com)
(3)Logic in Arrangement
Logically arranged events of a journey or a conference in an itinerary will bring both efficiency and success to the promoter of the journey or the host of the conference. On the other hand, they will enable a successful understanding of the itinerary in the reader.Illogically organized itineraries always lead to great confusion in the reader and consequently great difficulty in carrying them out.
(4)Explicit in Statement
An itinerary should be clear in its purpose and arrangement.Involved sentence structures and difficult words often lead to difficulty in understanding.Every element in an itinerary should be made distinct. To do this, some part of the itinerary should be printed in bold letters or in capital forms.
Try to make the itinerary text more reader-friendly by applying some of the highlighting techniques:fonts, headings, white space, charts, graphs, pictures, bolded words, bullets and graphics.
