8.2 Summary
8.2 Summary
This chapter mainly presented the interview data in relation to opinions on the base of marriage and family and as well giving a briefly overview of opinions on this by academics and practitioners. From the interview data,we can see that gender issues in relation to the division of labour and status in general may still exist in some families.Through the analysis of these opinions,we can see that there is a difference in them between the professionals and interviewees. The opinions by the professional may be theoretical, but the opinions of the interviewees may be practical.Through this analysis,we can see that their opinions on the base of marriage and family indicate that Chinese people can talk about marriage and family openly and freely which is different from the years before the reform. We can also see that their opinions may be affected more or less by culture and politics. In a word, the actual experiences of the interviewees may tell us what ordinary people's life is like, which helps our exploration of marriage and family, and more specifically, domestic violence. The next chapter will focus on communication in relation to verbal and non-verbal behaviours by couples in the home.
