11.2 Summary
11.2 Summary
This chapter presented both the interview and questionnaire data in relation to the issues of impact and health caused by verbal and non-verbal behaviour.Through the analysis, especially of the interview data,I concluded that gender inequality and ideas about it may have an impact on emotions and symptoms in relation to bodily and mental health experienced by wives and husbands. In particular, either emotions or symptoms are closely linked to a nervous system, which means that psychological violence impacts on people's mental health. However, this chapter shows that there is a notable and important gap between the interview and the survey data, and that there is a problem in explaining the differences fully because wives and husbands in the survey did not discuss these. This is a matter I would wish to investigate further in future research.Through this research,I have come to understand why domestic violence as a healthcare issue has been addressed by academics because this violence,as reported by the respondents, actually impacts on victims' physical and mental health as well as their normal lives.Undoubtedly, therefore psychological domestic violence impacts on wives and husbands' health.
