Chengdu：Returning to“Bicycle Kingdom”

China,the former kingdom of bicycles,will build more than 16,000 kilometers of bicycle lanes o__1__the next 23 years.The city of Chengdu plans to build 798 kilometers of bicycle lanes,a__2__with other walkways.

Around 20 years ago，walking and cycling made up 70 percent of urban travels，with cycling c__3__up to 30 percent，in Chengdu，capital of Sichuan Province.However，in 2016，cycling's share was only 4 percent，with automobiles t__4__up more than half of the total（总数）.

In recent years,shared bikes have appeared and are quite popular now.They have b__5__about a great chance for urban travel to become greener.

“In the p__6__，Chengdu was an ideal city for bicycles，”said Wang Xiaopeng，chief planner（总规划师）of Chengdu.He said he was glad to see the“kingdom of bicycles”r__7__in Chengdu.
