It's Like Family to Me
When Damilola Fowoshele's nine-year-old son Michael started acting unusually at school,teachers at Surrey Square Primary School c__1__in his mother to speak about his behaviour.It was then that Fowoshele finally told them what was going on.
She and her two children had been s__2__on a bare church floor every night for nine months.The mother was barred from working or seeking any help because there was s__3__wrong with her immigration status.
“I didn't want to tell the school at first,”Fowoshele said.“Now this school is l__4__a family to me.”
She is not a__5__in feeling that way.There are at least 40 children at the school who have similar problems.
The school lent them a h__6__hand.Whole families appear early for breakfast;at lunch the kitchens cook extra for parents who cannot afford to feed themselves.Teachers write letters to help solve some parents'immigration status problems.Sometimes the school even p__7__clothes,cooking equipment,cots and mattresses for families like the Fowosheles.
Some parents were moved to tears and very grateful to the school.
