In a Coffee Shop

I used to think that courtesy was a thing of the past because I had seldom met a young man who was as kind and polite as older generations.Recently,h__1__,I changed my mind.

Several weeks ago,I went to a coffee shop with my two daughters.There were many people there and we had to go up to the second floor to find an empty table.

After enjoying our coffee,we walked to the staircase.It was so n__2__that it was impossible for two people to walk side by side.

Just as I was walking down the stairs,a young man entered the coffee shop through the main entrance right in front of the staircase.It seemed that he wanted to go upstairs and that he was in a h__3__.

I was sure that I would be pushed roughly aside by him.I kept going down as fast as I could,holding on to the banister.My two daughters were already down.They l__4__up at me.

When I almost reached them,I noticed that the young man was still standing near the door.As my daughters and I passed him at the entrance,he was holding the door open.I thought that he had perhaps not d__5__whether to go in or to find another less crowded place.

After we walked out of the coffee shop,I looked back,just seeing the young man going up the stairs,two at a time.

I told my daughters about it.The young man had w__6__for us to come down first and held the door open for us before he hurried to go upstairs.All three of us felt bad that we did not thank the gentleman.

It is hard to find s__7__polite young people these days.I still remember this young gentleman and hope that our younger generations will be as courteous as him.
