Let me not to the marriage of true minds

O no，it is an ever－fixèd mark，

Whose worth’s unknown，although his height be taken⑥.
Love’s not Time’s fool，though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come⑦.
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks，
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved，

威廉·莎士比亚（William Shakespeare，1564—1616），英国剧作家、诗人。莎士比亚少年时代在当地的文法学校学习古代语言和文学，接触到古代罗马的诗歌和戏剧。在他20多年的艺术生涯中，一共创作了37部戏剧，154首十四行诗。他的十四行诗如镜子般反映出人生的全貌，概括了人世间的悲喜哀乐。虽然十四行诗的创作时间距今甚远，但仍具有很强的现实意义，堪称跨时空的永恒作品。
《真爱》是莎士比亚十四行诗中的第116首，其美在于简明清晰的主题：什么是真正的爱？诗人首先指出真爱永恒、不变。他用两个意象——灯塔和北斗星——来比喻真正的爱情是恒久不变、可以信赖的。它像大海中的灯塔，傲视暴风雨的肆虐；像天上的北斗星给迷失航向的水手指路。真爱不会因时间的推移而褪色，时间的镰刀在它面前显得无能为力，所以真爱永恒。
此诗前十二行隔行押韵，步步推进，末二行单独押韵，以铭文式警句收拢全诗，概括主题。
