《song of the sea》是来自电影《海洋之歌》中的一首歌曲。舒缓的音调，优美的旋律，讲述了一个爱尔兰神话故事。歌曲分为两个乐段，第一乐段旋律起伏不大，伴随着海风，低沉的耳语，缓缓地开启故事的篇章。第二乐段伴随着音调的升高，节奏稍微紧凑，运用了三连音和附点节奏，仿佛看到了主人公对大海的眷恋，对家美好的向往。
影片的主人公本和西尔莎因为母亲早逝，被父亲抚养长大。本逐渐成长为勇敢的哥哥，而直到6岁都不能说话的妹妹西尔莎则慢慢发现自己拥有与常人不同的能力。西尔莎用贝笛吹奏的乐曲非常优美，有一种神奇的沟通能力。西尔莎吹奏的乐曲带她找到了母亲留下的钥匙，也找到了西尔莎作为海豹女重返大海的海豹皮。实际上，同为海豹女的母亲并没有去世。作为海豹女，唱歌是她们的使命，但海豹女歌声的出现会让精灵从人类的世界消失。母亲重返大海，将小海豹女西尔莎留在父亲身边，留在人类世界，而她自己虽然贪恋人类世界的幸福，最终却不得不做出牺牲。
