Passage 15
学霸导读 孩子们的游戏在大人眼中似乎简单无趣。到底是什么让孩子们痴迷其中呢?
Children have their own rules in playing games. They s 1 need a referee ( 裁判 ) and rarely trouble to keep scores. They don’t c 2 much about who wins or loses, and it doesn’t seem to worry them if the game is not f inished. Yet, they like games that depend a lot on l 3 , so that each one’s own abilities cannot be directly compared. They also enjoy games that move in stages, in which the choosing of leaders, the picking-up of sides, or the deciding of which side shall start, is almost a game in itself.
Parents can hardly f ind children’s games i 4 , and they often don’t understand why their children play such simple games again and again. However, it is found that a child plays games for very important reasons. He can be a good player without having to think whether he is a popular person or not. He becomes a leader when it comes to his turn. He can be c 5 , too. In some games, it is his place to g 6 orders, to throw a ball actually at someone, or to punish someone who has been caught.
It appears to us that when children play a game they imagine a situation under their control. Everyone knows the rules, and more importantly, everyone plays according to the rules. Those rules may be simple, but they make sure that every child has a c 7 to win.
