The animated and live-action （ 真 人实拍的 ） versions of famous Chinese writer Liu Cixin’s The Three-Body Problem were off icially （ 正式地 ） announced last year. Fans say My Three Body， Legend of Zhang Beihai （ 《我的三体之章北海传》 ）—the third season of My Three Body based on the second book from Liu’s trilogy （ 三部曲 ）—has exceeded their expectations. Legend of Zhang Beihai tells the story of Zhang Beihai, a Chinese naval off icer who manages to e 2 from an alien civilization to preserve hope for the future of humanity. Its director, Shenyou Bafang, and his team started production on the third season in 2018. He said they had never expected it to be such a resounding success.
As an animation enthusiast （ 爱好者 ） and a fan of the sci-f i trilogy， Shenyou started working on the series in 2014 using the Minecraft computer game. This i 3 can still be seen in the latest season， too， with the block-headed cartoons resembling （ 相像 ） Minecraft characters.
“At that time， the novel was not as popular as it is now in China，” Shenyou said. “... so I wanted to make a video to help everyone better understand the story. My ultimate goal is to help The Three-Body Problem r 4 mass audiences （ 大众受众 ） through my work.”
Shenyou added that his team has also faced challenges d 5 production, often having to add plot lines to its story that weren’t in the book. “We don’t want to let people down, so we have to have an accurate understanding of the original story, which is a tough task,” he admitted.
