Investors, companies with overseas operations, exporters and importers, and speculators use foreign currency futures.Currency futures can be purchased or sold.A purchase gives the buyer a long position in the foreign currency and may be used to hedge against a future payment obligation in that same currency.A sale of a foreign currency future gives the seller a short position in the currency.
