Information for Railway Passengers
Passengers,except for children free of tickets or with children tickets,are required to provide effective IDs when buying tickets under the real-name ticketing system of railway,and present such IDs together with the tickets when entering railway station and getting on board.Entry or boarding will be denied for passengers whose documents do not match.
In general,children are not allowed to travel along by rail.Children with a height of 1.2~1.5 meters can travel with children's tickets,while those with a height of more than 1.5 meters shall buy full-price tickets.Each adult passenger is allowed to carry one child with a height of less than 1.2 meters for free and shall buy children's tickets for the other children if he/she is carrying more than one child.
College and postgraduate students of ordinary universities and colleges(including non-governmental schools with diploma education qualification approved by State Administrative Department of Education),military institutes,middle schools,primary schools,technical secondary schools,and vestibule schools could buy one-way student tickets from home to school(or internship location),in case their home and school are located in different cities,four times per year from June 1th to September 30th and from December 1th to March 31th of the next year.Students are required to provide courtesy cards with the official seals of their colleges or schools,or student's identity cards with electronic coupon card(students of primary schools shall provide written confirmation from school).Newly enrolled students can buy one student ticket once by providing letter of admission,and graduated students by providing written confirmation from school.Student tickets are only available for hard seats on ordinary passenger trains or second-class seats on EMU trains.
Soldiers of PLA and Chinese People's Armed Police Force who have been disabled on duty can buy courtesy tickets by providing Military Disability Card of the People's Republic of China;Policemen who have been disabled on duty could buy courtesy tickets by providing Police Disability Card of the People's Republic of China.
Passengers should take the train according to information indicated on the tickets,including time,train number,class of seat and bed.Passenger,who missed the train,could return the tickets,or alter the tickets once of other trains in the circumstance the seats are still available and the prices of tickets are the same.If a passenger alters the ticket 48 hours before train starts,the passenger could select his/her ticket within pre-sale time.If a passenger alters the ticket in less than 48 hours before train starts,he could only select ticket before train starts or ticket in less than 24 hours after train starts on the same day.After train starts,passenger could alter ticket on the same day only at the departure station,and the altered ticket could not be refunded.
Passengers should refund the tickets before departure.For refund applied more than 15 days(not including)before departure,no service fee will be charged;but for passengers who change their original tickets 48 hours to 15 days before departure,to other tickets whose departure time is more than 15 days(not including)and apply for the refund more than 15 days(not including)before the new departure time,5%of the original fare will be charged as service fee.There will be no refund fee,if passengers return ticket 15 days before train starts.If passengers return tickets 48 hours before train starts,the passengers should pay 5%of ticket price as refund fee.If passengers return tickets in less than 48 hours and more than 24 hours before train starts,they should pay 10%of the ticket price as refund fee.If passengers return tickets less than 24 hours before train starts,they should pay 20%of the ticket price as refund fee.
Passengers who have lost their real-name tickets can report the loss and request for a substitute ticket at ticket selling windows if they can provide effective identification card used for buying the lost ticket,travel date on the lost ticket and name of the station where they bought the ticket.Or if they make the report and request 20 minutes before stopping checking at the departure station shown on the ticket.
Free baggage allowance for EMU trains is 20kg per adult or 10 kg per child;maximum combined length,width and height is 130cm and maximum weight is 20kg for each piece of luggage.Oversize luggage shall be consigned.Hazardous articles including flammable,explosive,corrosive,deleterious or radioactive items and controlled knives are prohibited to enter a station or get on board.Passengers should take care of their belongings during the trip.
Railway Safety Management Regulations,Railway Passenger Transport Regulations and regulations set by CHINA RAILWAY shall be referred to for matters not mentioned herein.In case of any adjustments,the announcements of stations shall prevail.
