Train Travel for Passengers with Special Needs
China railway accepts ill,disabled and pregnant passengers according to finite conditions.Passengers who have bodily or mental illnesses/defects,cannot take care of themselves during the travel and require assistance,and pregnant women are all covered by this category.
China railway provides special services for ill,disabled and pregnant passengers according to the regulations.China railway is entitled to refuse to carry ill,disabled and pregnant passengers who do not accord with the transportation regulations or who are not fit for travel by train.
Special Passenger Range
Sick passengers who have physical sickness or mental sickness;stretcher passengers;disabled passengers;pregnant passengers;infant passengers;elderly people who are over 60 years old,although absent of illness,require assistance from other people,should be treated as ill passengers and be given appropriate attendance during travel.
Passenger Refusal Range
Passengers with infectious diseases;passengers who are terminally ill;psychotic patients who readily experience deliria and may cause damage to others;passengers who have serious facial damage or possess a peculiar odor or habit,who may cause disturbance to other passengers.
Priority Boarding and Additional Assistance
At many stations,seniors with difficulty walking,passengers with young children,pregnant women and all passengers with reduced mobility may also board the train before other passengers at stations where this is possible.If you qualify for any one of these categories,please mention this when you book your ticket.Then come to the station early and let the station staff know what help you have requested.
Reduced Mobility
Passengers with reduced mobility will receive special attention from our personnel.These special services vary from one region to another depending on station facilities and train cars.
Booking Tickets
If you purchase your tickets by telephone or online,please call 12306 to make a reservation.In person at ticket counters of railway station to let us know which special service you require.
Any additional persons needed to assist in helping those with disabilities board and disembark will be offered the best available fare.
On Board the Train
All CRH trains are accessible to travellers in wheelchairs and are equipped with wheelchair tiedowns,grab bars in washrooms and narrow wheelchairs for boarding,detraining and accessing the washrooms.However,the availability of said services varies according to the train equipment in use.
Wheelchair and Scooter
Some passengers can board the train independently without sitting in their wheelchairs or scooters.Other passengers need to board the train while remaining in their wheelchairs or scooters.Wheelchair passengers should request assistance from the conductor when boarding.Wheelchair lifts are available on every train to assist passengers with reduced mobility.Also,if you are travelling alone and need assistance in purchasing food from the Cafe Car,please ask the conductor for help.
Travelling with a Guide Dog or Service Animal
Your guide dog or service animal always travels free.And to make sure both you and your animal are comfortable,we will provide you with a second seat free of charge in economy class or business class.On certain departures you may also occupy a double bedroom at a reduced fare.Your guide dog or service animal must wear a harness or leash.
Please note that this policy only applies to guide dogs and service animals,and pets must travel in the baggage car.We also ask that you tell us in advance if you wish to travel with a guide dog or service animal.
∗Guide dogs and service animals are certified working animals that were trained in order to help you.A certificate from a recognized institution may be requested.One guide dog or service animal is permitted per passenger.
