ReadingⅠFirst-aid Techniques急救技术
First aid is a series of simple,life-savingmedical techniques thata non-doctor or layman can be trained to perform.
Traditionally,themethod has been called ABC for“Airway”,“Breathing”and“Circulation”.Easy to remember and in order of importance.However,in the military an“H”(Hazardous)situation is sometimes added,and the“B”stands for“Bleeding”,as themilitary patientwill probably bleed more often than not,making it HABC,or by some training organizations“Danger”and“Response”are added making DR ABC.
First aid is normally performed inmedical emergencies.Medical emergency is an injury or illness that raises an immediate threat to a person's health or life which requires help from a doctor or hospital.
Supplies useful in giving first aid are often kept together in a first-aid kit.Firstaid kit is a collection of supplies and equipment for use in giving first aid,particularly in an emergency.Most first-aid kits contain bandages for controlling bleeding,personal protective equipment such as gloves and a barrier②for performing rescue breathing and cardiopulmonary resuscitation,and sometimes instructions on how to perform first aid.
When you are giving first aid,do as follows:
·Determine whether the scene is safe.Look for any dangers,such as downed power lines,traffic,unstable structures or fast-moving water.Determine what may have happened,how many victims are involved,and if any bystanders can help;
·Check the victim for consciousness and get permission if the victim is conscious;
·Check the ABCs(airway,breathing and circulation);and check for serious bleeding;
·Do notmove victims unless it is necessary to remove them from danger,or to make treatment possible,such as onto a hard surface for Cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR);
·Calling for emergencymust take priority over actions such as rescue breathing or CPR.
