As the previous section states,many beginners are faced with the problem of what may be termed“Chinese character learning anxiety”.This emotional problem leads to some learners giving up their Chinese language learning.Under such circumstances,the authors regard it as necessary to further explore and study the Chinese character writing behaviour and process,and make some innovations in teaching strategies to break through the difficulties of Chinese character learning and help the Chinese second language learners to gain effective learning strategy.

Whether or not we can design a set of skill training strategies and methods for Chinese character writing to help learners of an alphabetic language background?To be brief,at the initial stage of teaching,it is important to break the constraints from the traditional teaching concept and practice,so that the learner’s interest in learning Chinese,a language with a character writing system,is stimulated,anxiety about the character learning process is reduced,and learners can learn Chinese characters happily.This will help to effectively accelerate the entire language learning process.

Based on many years of teaching observations and practice,supported by theories and research results from the field of teaching Chinese as a second language and theories from the field of psychology,the authors designed and implemented a set of training strategies for Chinese character writing and conducted an action research in the process of teaching Chinese characters to second language learners,in an attempt to make a breakthrough in the acquisition of Chinese character writing for learners from an alphabetic language background.
