工作中记住对方的名字很重要，但是记不住或者记不准的时候，只能借用中文的“张三、李四”等不确定的称呼，这些在英语里也有对应表达法。

例如“请解释一下让随便哪个人都能明白”可译为“You’d better explain it in the language that even Dick and Jane can follow”。汇报装货中的问题时可以说“The old Tom so-andso just wanted to delay the work”，意思是“有个叫Tom的老家伙就是想拖延工作”。如果只知道对方的军衔而不知道姓名，可用代替人，例如“有位上尉让我们把油料卸在了他们的营院”可以译为“A Captain somebody told us to unload the fuel in their compound”。
