The Hero Gels Khan
The Hero Gels Khan (Ying Xiong Ge Si Er Ke Han in Chinese) is a heroic epic of the Mongol ethnic group,which was translated into Chinese by Jakhadai Chimeddorji (Qi Mu De Dao Er Ji in Chinese) etc.
The Hero Gels Khan,also called The Biography of Gels,tells about the the heroic deeds of the national hero Gels.Leading his followers,the valiant Gels struggled against the twelve-heads devil who had abducted Allegova,Gels Khan’s concubine.He succeed in defeating the devil and rescuing his concubine.Converting the beauty of Ruomu Gaowa,another concubine of Gels Khan,Shalaihesan Khan waged the war to grab her when Gels suppressed the rebellion of the devil.Because Gels’uncle betrayed Gels’ tribe,numerous territories have been lost and many innocent people displaced.Gels was in deep sorrow for that situation,and he regained the territories after fighting.
The Hero Gels Khan has created a vivid image of the hero and showed the spirit of patriotism.The language is concise and the narration is full of strong regional characteristics,which establish its position as one of the classics.
